Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance Sir Terepai Maoate has formally requested the Samoa Prime Minister for further discussions on the issue of a regional shipping service.
Sir Terepai who returned home yesterday from a private holiday, submitted to PM Tuilaepa Lupesoliai Sailele Malielegaoi that there are several positive and mutually beneficial options that can be explored.
In a letter to the Samoa PM, Sir Terepai stated; “I also believe that a regional shipping service will also help realize for us the long-term Pacific islands vision of a shared bulk-purchasing scheme that you advocated during our meeting.”
PM Sailele raised the possibility of a regional shipping service for Samoa, the Cook Islands and Niue.
